The final blog-down

As my last blog I must tell you how were my experience with this class and the use of blogs with my mates.

I really like this class, I think it´s absolutely necessary for any career to know English, especially for us, because as forester we need to read a lot of papers in English and work eventually with foreign companies where handle two languages it´s a must, so I hope the faculty keeps this subject as obligatory for all the students without the necessary skills with English language.

Blogs are a good tool to practice vocabulary and grammar, but sometimes it´s a little difficult for me because I run out of ideas and I have a minimum number of words to do, anyway I learned and practice enough to be available to write and read English works or other things like song lyrics, stories, news and so on.

I need to improve my grammar and the only way to do it it´s writing more in English, but I don´t really know if there were an occasion to do it because all my works in forestry are in Spanish, however I always have chances to practice my English talking with students of U.S.A. so I will still use this language to talk frequently.

I hope to finish well this class and always improve my knowledge of English along my studies and future works, practicing daily no matter how much but never lose my skills with this language.

The best and the worst

Until this moment this was a good year in general, I have few bad moments and various good moments, and I hope to have more of them before the new year. I never expect something in particular from a year because I don´t want to be disappointed, I prefer to have a good surprise than expect something that never happens. In university subject I've had very good moments and very bad moments as well. Pass “growth and development of trees” with a 7 on the final exam, start an investigation in laboratory and been assistant in “CyCBAE” class was the very good things of the year, and the worst thing it´s my math marks, sadly they are very bad and I`m risking that subject.

Best thing in my social life it`s my cosplay team of “Mortal Kombat” game, who is increasing it`s fame and contacts in cosplay events, we are just steps to become professionals with my large group of friends (we are 20 in total) and maybe we could start to get money with our presentations in public. Besides, the worst thing should be the low contact with my friends because we are all study or working, but it`s normal, I just hope to be available this summer to go to the beach with them, or somewhere, because last year I have a trip with forestry career and I miss the only chance to go out with them.

I hope this year ends well for everyone and the new one start always better

eco-chile

Chile it´s a country where lives a lot of people interested on the recycling subject, but there isn´t a real culture of this, in Santiago, people throw his trash to the streets, rivers and green zones like parks and squares and don´t care about it, because nobody teach them to be a clean person and that´s the base to protect the environment, be clean with it.

Also, there´s a few places to dump classified trash in order to recycle it, so it´s difficult for persons who  want to contribute to the cause, especially with technologic trash like computers, batteries.

This country needs more places to dump this kind of trash, and laws to create recycles systems in each town, and a better environment education to teach children to take care about the planet.

I have some habits to save resources, like unplug electric transformer, turn off lights and water when I don´t use them, and dump my trash in landfills, but I don´t recycle my trash, because there isn´t a place to do it near my house, also I never join or give support to a eco-organization because I don´t have the money or time to expend in it, but I know, when I finish my forestry career, I can will give my hand to protect the ecosystem with my own job.

Transgenics

A GMO or Genetic Modifie Organism it’s a life form altered by the human to make it stronger at a specifically or different pathogen or climates, in order to increases the productivity of a farm or forestry plantation making them cheaper, also can be altered the size of a vegetal, prevent seed´s expression or made another changes that may be attractive to people. This can be made by selective reproduction of the specimens with the characteristic that they want, or altering the specific genetic information. There is not problem in forestry to try both ways to get a better specimen because their uses are construction and ornamental, but transgenic food have a lot of problems, because there’s a lot of studies about disease produces by this kind of food,  most related to cancer. Some scientist defend this transgenic and have their own studies about it, but there are more proves about the disease.

As a forester, I can´t make a judgment about transgenic food, because It´s not my area of work, but I can make my opinion as a consumer: transgenics are a bad choice, even in the taste, natural vegetals are better, you can see the difference between a real fruit with strong taste and a chance to decompose and a “plastic” fruit.

Mi future as forester

I´m not very sure about what I will do once I finish forestry, now I like the laboratory work and investigation, but maybe I will work in another area of this career. But, I´m totally sure about where I like to travel and work, in Chile, must be at south because of the environment and the weather, I like both equal, mountains, dense forest with a lot of life, cold and rainy, with long nights at winter. Also I like to travel to north countries like Norway, Finland or Greenland bye the same reasons. At this day, I don´t really care about what kind of work I will do with my Forestry degree, even I don´t care about how much money I will earn with my work, just enough to survive on an single apartment because I don´t have plans to have family now, but this can change on the future, everything it´s possible.  

Pets

Hello everybody, today we have the animal´s topic, so I’m going to focus on pets and talk about my opinion about this.

Many people have pets in their houses, thinking they are good with them, but not all of this people share their time with their pets, leaving them alone grand part of the day and just feed them once a day and hopefully spend an hour playing.

A pet must been treated as an member for the family, I know people who thinks that a pet it´s equal to a salvage animal, so they leave them on the streets on their own fate, but a domestic animal have the need of human company and attention.

I have a cat and it suffer a lot when there is nobody at home, that’s why I don´t want a pet when I have my own home in the future, because I think it´s fun, a pet makes company and so, but that animal lives in a “jail” (unless you have a big house for him).

So, I prefer to live animals lives free, on their own habitat and if one of them wants to be your friend and live near of your home, it´s ok, but not force them to stay in a single place.

The Metal Fest 2014

The last concert that I went was “The metal fest 2014” on last april, I was very excited because it will the first time I see “Megadeth” live, and also will be the first time of “Dark Angel” on Chile.

There was another international bands such “At the Gates” and “Hipocrisy” but those are not my favorites so I will not talk much about them. It was on Movistar arena, but only takes one day. Outside the main scenario was 3 small scenarios where national bands went to play their music, some of them was good bands, others not mutch, but they always have a big audience.

There were a lot of people at the main show, very excited with the music, especially with Megadeth and Dark Angel, everyone jump, push, run and hit on the pit, and I was one of them (jajajaja).

I was impressed with Ron Rinehart, Dark angel vocalist, because he still have all the power and energy at his forty nine years, he even jump from the scenario two times and still sing over the people, but I was disappointed with Dave Mustaine, Megadeth vocalist, who lose his voice and his energy, just standing on his spot all the show.

Feeding with the forest

Food forest it´s a vegetal structure made by productive plants like orange, Apple and other fruits trees that need similar weather to survive and produce their fruits.

To start the process preparing the soil, adding organic material such fast growth plants and fertilizers, making possible to growth for mayor fruit trees. Then the main seeds are planted and fertilized in order to help them with their growth. Then you have to remove the pioneering plants to give all the soil nutrients to the fruits trees. In few years of growing, the trees builds a forest of fruit trees, that can´t be destroyed by natural forces. This forest will produce food by his own ability, without any kind of human help.

I think we can do something like this in Chile because we have a lot a lot of different climates on this country, so we can do different kinds of food forest with tropical fruits, forest fruits and any other kind, but maybe this could affect the biodiversity of the natural forest of Chile.

The earth from above

It´s a film recorded by YannArthus-Bertrand who want to show people what it´s going on with the over explotation of the earth, what is destroing the wolrd because human kind it´s taking too much resources and pollute more than the earth can take in this little time. Aldo he want to show the inequality between people of low resource, who don´t have enougth to eat, and in a short time, they gonna lose their food sources beacuse of the over explotation of this resource.

Yann want´s to show this to all the people as possible to make awareness an try to change people´s mind, because the earth health it´s in danger and we gonna disappear from the world beside other species of the planet.

I think that the world it´s overpopulated by humans, because we are always searching a way to survive to sickness and natural disasters and we make it, so ther´s no nature way to keep a balanced polulation, in this way, we need a lot of resources to keep all the people lives, and that means a lot of pollution and overexplotation of this resources.

Finally, we gonna reach the limit weigth that the planet have to keep us alive and the human race will decrese drastically his population or maby we will just be extinguished like any other kind of live in his ecosystem, but the planet earth wil survive, and the life to, because the life can open his own path no matter what happend with the wolrd. The life borns in a worst scenario than the humans are making now, so we must change this situation for our own good to have a place to live.
