A GMO or
Genetic Modifie Organism it’s a life form altered by the human to make it
stronger at a specifically or different pathogen or climates, in order to increases
the productivity of a farm or forestry plantation making them cheaper, also can
be altered the size of a vegetal, prevent seed´s expression or made another
changes that may be attractive to people. This can be made by selective
reproduction of the specimens with the characteristic that they want, or altering
the specific genetic information. There is not problem in forestry to try both
ways to get a better specimen because their uses are construction and
ornamental, but transgenic food have a lot of problems, because there’s a lot
of studies about disease produces by this kind of food, most related to cancer. Some scientist defend
this transgenic and have their own studies about it, but there are more proves
about the disease.
As a
forester, I can´t make a judgment about transgenic food, because It´s not my
area of work, but I can make my opinion as a consumer: transgenics are a bad
choice, even in the taste, natural vegetals are better, you can see the difference
between a real fruit with strong taste and a chance to decompose and a “plastic”
fruit.
I completely agree with the flavor of unmodified foods, long live to natural tomatoes
